OTHER NEWS
NASA's Earth-observing satellite, called Glory, launched this morning (March 4) from Vandenberg AFB, but within minutes, scientists realized the rocket would not make it into orbit because the nose cone of the rocket covering the satellite failed to separate, making it too heavy and too slow to achieve orbit. It's the second consecutive failure for a Taurus XL rocket. Scientists had hoped the satellite would address key uncertainties in climate research by enriching scientists' understanding of the Earth's energy budget, the amount of energy entering and exiting the Earth's climate system.

Although they've only counted 1235 planets so far, scientists working on NASA's Kepler Telescope say their best guess is that our galaxy could be home to a whopping 50 billion planets. The Kepler spacecraft, which launched in March 2009, is the world's most sophisticated observatory dedicated to studying alien planets. Of the 1,235 possible planets, 54 appear to be at just the right distance from their stars where temperatures would be right for liquid water.

SCIFI NEWS QUOTE OF THE WEEK
I wonder how many men, hiding their youngness, rise as I do, Saturday mornings, filled with the hope that Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam and Daffy Duck will be there waiting as our one true always and forever salvation? - Ray Bradbury
