It's just been confirmed that J.J. Abrams has finally committed to shooting "Star Trek XII" and that pre-production is underway, that the script will be done by month's end and that Abrams will start shooting this winter. Part of the hold-up has been that Alex Kurtzman, who wrote Abrams' first Trek with Roberto “Bob” Orci, has been busy editing another film.

Filming has commenced on Syfy's Saturday Original Movie The Philadelphia Experiment.  The plot is based around a secret government research project that tries to revive the World War II “Philadelphia Experiment,” which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. Malcolm McDowell plays the original genius behind the experiment.

"Source Code" is being adapted for a TV show. Producer Mark Gordon and ABC Studios are developing a TV adaptation of Duncan Jones' scifi action thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal for CBS. Industry executives say that there have not been many shows like it in the past except for  "Quantum Leap" and the failed Journeyman.

Harrison Ford says "it's an absolute delight" any time he gets to dust off the ol' fedora and whip to play Indiana Jones, so much so that he'll be on board if a fifth film in the series ever happens. But apparently he's not too wild about a sci-fi angle.During a Q&A session with director Steven Spielberg at a 30th-anniversary "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" screening this week in Los Angeles, Ford said he would be open to returning to the character."Maybe a fifth, but I ain't going to Mars," he said.

Harlan Ellison is attempting to stop a high-profile movie that is scheduled to come out in theaters next month. The Hugo award-winning writer has filed a lawsuit against New Regency and director Andrew Niccol over the 20th Century Fox-distributed film,"In Time" starring Justin Timberlake. Ellison says the new film is based on his multiple prize-winning 1965 work, "Repent, Harlequin and that the similarity between the two works is "obvious".

Will Smith and his son Jaden have another project together in the works. Their forthcoming science fiction adventure film “1000 A.E.” is officially scheduled to be released on June 7, 2013.It's futuristic science fiction adventure film with a story that takes place far in the future where a young boy has to navigate an abandoned planet on a space ship that has crashed. On board the ship is his estranged father.
