OTHER NEWS
The third edition of the "Encyclopedia Of Science Fiction", the definitive reference work in the field, will be released online later this year. The first edition appeared in 1979 and the second edition in 1993. Both editions won the Hugo Award from the World Science Fiction Convention, in addition to numerous other honors. The beta version of the third edition will cover every area of science fiction, including authors, illustrators, movies, music, games, and fanzines. The text will be completed, through monthly updates, by the end of 2012.

Key US lawmakers voted Thursday to kill off funding for the successor to the vastly successful Hubble telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope. The move still requires the full committee's approval, the full House's approval, the Senate's approval, and ultimately President Barack Obama's signature. Opponents of the project say it is "billions of dollars over budget and plagued by poor management."

TNT has signed off on a second season of Falling Skies. The order is for ten more episodes to air in 2012. TNT’s head of programming Michael Wright said “We’re reaching new audiences with "Falling Skies" and look forward to seeing where this exciting series takes us next.”

There's been an entertaining rumor this week concerning casting for Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. According to Movie Web, original Batman Adam West could be up for a cameo role. Details as to what kind or role West would play in the movie were not known. West said “I like Christian Bale. I’ve heard he’s a big fan of mine". "The Dark Knight Rises" arrives in theatres on July 20, 2012.

Dimension Films has acquired the movie rights to Kyle Kurpinski and Terry D. Johnson’s "How To Defeat Your Clone.” Co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, Bob Weinstein said “When I first found this book, I knew it had amazing potential for an exciting and unique film."
